If you want to know how to flatten your stomach, then you will need to know how to boost your metabolism. If your metabolism is running slow, you will not burn calories and this will result in extra fat being stored, especially around your midsection.
Don’t Skip Meals
Skipping meals only fools your body into thinking that it needs to store fat in order to survive. The most important meal of the day, and I’m sure you’ve heard this from your mother, is breakfast. Skipping breakfast is one of the worst things you can do if you want to know how to flatten your stomach.
Your body has not eaten since the night before and if it doesn’t get food in the morning, your metabolism will slow down and your body will store fat. It needs energy and energy comes from food. If you feel that by skipping meals, it will make you lose weight, the opposite is actually true.
Eat Small Meals
Try to cut down the amount of food you eat at one sitting and break it up into several smaller meals throughout the day. Doing this will keep your metabolism working all day and burn more calories.
Try splitting your meals in half. Eat one half at lunch time and save the other half as a snack a couple hours later. Do the same for dinner. Make sure you are eating healthy foods rich in protein and low in fat.
Take Up Weight Training
Building muscle through weight training and resistance exercises is a great way to boost your metabolism and one of the best ways to go about getting a flat stomach. Building muscle burns calories and in turn burns away fat. Your body will continue burning calories and fat even after you stop exercising.
Did you know that people who have excess belly fat are more likely to die of heart disease, stroke and a number of other dangerous diseases?
There are many so called “flat stomach foods” and also foods you need to avoid. Just because you want to lose weight and get a flat stomach, doesn’t mean you need to stop eating. Skipping meals is the worst thing you can do and actually causes your body to store more fat. Let me say that there are no miracle cures for a flat stomach. It takes hard work and dedication. That said, there are some foods that you should avoid and try to wean yourself off of. These foods contain lots of sugars, artificial sweeteners, salt and processed fats. They cause you to crave bad foods and become addicted to the additives in them. Here is a list of foods that are opposites to the good flat stomach foods and should be avoided. These include:
* Processed Meats – including sausage, deli meat and hot dogs. Grass fed beef, chicken and fish are better choices.
* Sweetened Soft Drinks – including Diet Sodas with artificial sweeteners. Drink unsweetened tea or water with meals.
* Salt – use natural herbs and spices when cooking
* Donuts, Cakes, Cookies – These are a no brainer, but the sugars make you crave them. Opt for fresh fruits whenever possible or if you must eat something sweet, make it dark chocolate in small quantities.
* Fried Foods and Processed Starch Foods – including boxed potatoes, macaroni & cheese and flavored packaged rice.
By avoiding the above foods you can train your body to stop craving them and start enjoying natural foods. After a while, you will become used to the natural flavors of unsweetened coffee, tea and plain water. You will no longer crave foods loaded with salt. Meats and veggies will taste better with natural herbs for flavoring. So scratch off the above foods from your list of flat stomach foods and learn to eat healthier and better.
